Duties of the Additional Deputy Commissioner
(General)
As per the notification issued under code of Criminal Procedure
the Additional Deputy Commissioner has been vested with the powers of the
Additional District Magistrate. Moreover he has been vested with the powers of
the Collector under Punjab Land Revenue Act. The Addl. Deputy Commissioner has
the rights of Collector under Indian Registration 1908 and PP Act.
The
Judicial Work
1.The Addl. Deputy Commissioner decides the cases of
revenue and judicial appeals.
2.The value of the document registered under
less value is determined under Indian Stamp act and to recover the amount so
determined, the certificates are issued.
3.The election petitions against the
Gram Panchayats, Municipal Committees/ councellors are decided by the election
court.
4.Under the Arms Act, the licences are renewed and the entire work
regarding he arms is carried out.

Deputy Commissioner also looks after the work of the eminent branches of the
office of Deputy Commissioner S.A.S. Nagar i.e. establishment branch, S.K.
Branch of the Deputy Commissioner, the District Revenue Accounts, Nazarat Branch
and other branches and the work of the postage of these branches is also carried
out by this officer.
Inspection
The inspection of the offices of
the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Tehsildar, Sub Registrar, Block Municipal
Committees are also carried out by the Additional Deputy Commissioner. After
being authorized by the District Magistrate the inspection of the jail is done.
Complaints/departmental enquiries
The enquiries of the serious
complaints are made by the Additional Deputy Commissioner by the orders of
Deputy Commissioner. The departmental enquiries against Tehsildars/ Naib
Tehsildars are also made. The complaints sent directly by the Punjab Human
Rights Commission or the enquiries sent by the Deputy Commissioner S.A.S. Nagar
are finalized.

licences.
